In August 2017, Enid was appointed the Interim Director to lead the creation of the new Center for Arts, Culture and Humanities at Salinas City Center for California State University, Monterey Bay.
The mission of the Center is to enhance and promote informed and creative community engagement with the arts, culture, and humanities in Monterey County through participatory public programming, exhibitions, and educational opportunities.
Since 2011 Enid Baxter Ryce has been the Community Director creating free experimental and community-based programs for Philip Glass’ Days and Nights festival annually. The festival is presented by the Philip Glass Center for Arts, Science and the Environment. Its mission is to gather the world’s leaders in the fields of art, science and the environment for a broad array of interdisciplinary activities including performances, seminars, and education programs that inspire and motivate the public to become engaged with matters vital to the future of the natural environment and the quality of human existence.
The Days and Nights Festival is the premier program of the Center. Developed by Philip Glass, the festival is designed to encompass and nurture the arts in a way that welcomes the future while exploring the seminal developments in the arts throughout history. It is committed to the cultivation, promotion and development of the arts.
Enid Baxter Ryce collaborates with Ambulante Film Festival to create free pop-up screenings in Monterey County. Ambulante focuses on supporting and promoting documentary film as a tool for social and cultural change. The mobile film series travels to areas with limited access to film to diversify and democratize documentary culture.
Ambulante activates unique public exhibition spaces and curates a selection of documentaries that reflect multicultural perspectives, spark dialogue, and enhance cross-cultural appreciation. Ambulante offers 100% of its programming for free.
Ambulante’s model originated in 2005 from the Mexican non-profit founded by actors and filmmakers Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, Pablo Cruz and Elena Fortes
