Using watercolor paintings and stop-frame animation, Enid Baxter Blader and animator Andrew Dolan created a haunting film suitable for all ages. Olive awakens from a dream, to find her backyard has frozen. Something is moving under the ice. Using her banjo, she plays until cracks appear. Birds fly out! Olive and the birds start a bluegrass band and have a backyard concert.
Olive’s Backyard Concert has screened at Slamdance Anarchy, New Filmmakers New York, the Santa Cruz Film Festival, Garden State Film Festival, San Francisco Bay Area International Childrens’ Film Festival, and screens regularly on Northern California PBS.
